Mothers Are Kind

May 13, 2018

Mikelle was asked to speak during the sacrament today for Mother's Day. Lala gave them questions to help them organize their talk.

Good morning. I am Mikelle Sorenson. I am 7 years old. Today I am going to talk about mothers. Mothers are kind. They help and take care of those who are around them. I think God gave us mothers so they can help fathers take care of kids, and so they can teach us about the gospel, and so we can teach it to our kids someday, and they can teach it to their kids.

We show our mothers that we love them when we say, “I love you,” and when we treat them kindly and give them hugs and kisses. Mothers cook for us, they take us to the doctor when we are sick, they help us with projects, and they sometimes have a job to support us. They do fun activities with us. I like going out with my mom and going out to places with the whole family too. Mom teaches us many things. She teaches us that we need to go to church because it is one of God’s commandments, and so that we can learn about Jesus. I have learned from our family home evening that Jesus is a healer. He is perfect, the creator, and a loving shepherd.

I think the hardest thing about being a mother is being around kids who are fighting and sometimes working to support the family. Moms are happy when their kids are friendly, happy, nice, silly, and choosing the right. Moms are sad when their kids are mean and when they can’t give their kids what they need.

I want to be a mother someday so I can have wonderful, playful, kind, and happy kids. I can prepare now to be a mother someday by going to the temple, going to church, being nice and kind, reading the Book of Mormon, praying, and doing our Family Home Evenings.

I am happy that I can stay with my family forever and ever and live with them again someday. I know that the church is true. In Jesus name, Amen.
